You Are by Your Choice

Meditación con Mataji Shaktiananda

Breathe and observe yourself.
Take an intimate journey through yourself, feel your presence,
the space that you occupy, but most of all: your feeling, your presence,
and this your will, to want to do this,
to breathe, to calm yourself, to establish a connection, in order to continue.

So, breathe with tranquility, without forcing yourself,
without expecting anything, simply feeling the pulse within you.
Let your thoughts happen, do not avoid them,
accept them, let them flow through you, and let them know what you’re doing.

Do you think we think more now,
with so much to think about?
all that emerges there,
of everything you want to know about and that you don’t,
of everything that reaches you, without being able to resist yourself,
and the urge to make it all visible, however possible, as if you didn’t know.

You are such a perceptive being,
so capable, so wise; otherwise, you wouldn’t be here.
And you have chosen this: to continue knowing and recognizing everything,
more so, what you contain and what continues to bring you here.

It isn’t difficult to intuit; in a certain way, you love all of this.
All this complexity fascinates you,
complexity that has become increasingly complicated.
And it’s not that you come to enjoy it:
you register it, you go on realizing.

If you propose it,
you understand more about what this human nature is,
what has been happening, breath by breath,
and there is yours, serene today.

Think carefully: haven’t you grown weary?
And what you answer speaks of you, of your strength,
of your capacity, of your understanding, of your disposition.

Do you think you have exhausted the experience?
What moves you most about all of humanity?
This outrage, this inconformity,
all this that seems like a crisis but ends up being chaos.
Because crises pass,
but this chaos persists, and you breathe it in.

You breathe, seeking calm, some stillness,
and you ask yourself fervently: what is happening to us?

How much more do we want?
What makes us so uncomfortable?

Observe your breath,
your condition today, your answer today.

What are we doing in all this immensity,
this vast planet, this inexorable Universe?
What are you doing?

And your breath, your strength,
for what you must discern, act.
You are a constant participant in all this,
and you must consciously observe every action,
every gesture, detect the vices,
-more so the human ones—and comprehend them.

Is consciousness corrupted?
That which is, is not.
Resist the chaos, determine the strength,
elevate the constant and uphold the Law.

And you know it, that is why you choose, that is why you are here,
that is why you think of yourself, observe yourself, loving yourself like this,
regaining your strength and opening yourself
in consciousness in the face of this humanity.

Do not become disoriented, do not prefer to despair or condemn yourself.
Become ever more awake, more benevolent,
more capable of accepting what this is
because it has been your choice.
You are by your choice.

Do not look at the world, at anyone, with contempt, nor try to judge,
go forward expressing your freedom
which is to not fear anything or anyone,
least of all what you believe is god, because it is consciousness,
and, as far as I know and have resolved, it is to always be love.

Think about that, feel that, be that.

Breathe deeply, knowing yourself to be here,
as present, as understanding, and as loving as you can be.
Always thank yourself for this willpower
to know how to be in you, and from this serenity,
to know how to continue, always.

Value your Being, trust yourself, live in the present, live.
